I’m using the “Podcast Player” plugin to have a podcast player of my podcast on my wordpress site. It seems that their script is being blocked form Complainz, even though they don’t use any cookies or iframes to work.

They are telling me “Podcast player send inline data to front-end to be used by JavaScript using WordPress’s wp_localize_script function. This is a normal practice to send translated strings and dynamic data to front-end to be used by JavaScript. However, perhaps Complianz mis-interpret it as cookie and blocking access to it.”

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @uiuiui7,

I remember this, it was ‘fixed’ momentarily I see. Our regex triggers on an inline script that mentions different third-party scripts.

You can try disabling all integrations, and see which one triggers the issue.

If we know which, we can maybe unset the service specifically for this case.

    Let me know,

    regards Aert

Heya, thanks for your reply. How do I disable all integrations?

@uiuiui7 you can find all integrations under Complianz -> Integrations. Please note that there are Multiple tabs: Services & Plugins.

    Kind regards,

Yes, but it can only find the WP forms plugin there. All other plugins aren’t listed.

    Hi @uiuiui7,

And under Integrations > Services, nothing is enabled?

I would guess an integration like Spotify, or Vimeo should be enabled for this to occur.

In Integrations -> services Youtube, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and Pinterest are “verbunden” (connected) – which is a bit weird anyway, as I only have embedded youtube-videos and none of the others, except links via social-link buttons and the GDPR conform and non-cookie-setting “shariff” social media share button plugin.

Hey hey! I just found out, it’s the “instagram” thingy in integration – services – connected – instagram … if I switch that one off, the podcast player works!

    @uiuiui7 that’s great!

If you are certain that you are not using embedded content (like buttons, feeds, etc) from the other Social Media, I would advise you to deselect those as well.

    Kind regards,
    Leon

But in the future I would like to embed instagram and twitter and facebook postings – but it shouldn’t ruin the podcast player…?

I think using “shariff” doesn’t count as a “like button” – so I could deselect them?

@uiuiui7 Please reach out to us when you are implementing these social media feeds. We can then investigate how to make sure that everything that needs to be blocked before consent is blocked and the podcast player keeps working.

Like buttons also place cookies in some cases, but there are plugins available that provide these buttons without the use of cookies. You could test for yourself by investigating which cookies are placed.

    Kind regards,
    Leon

Hiya! After further research I figured out that it is only the instagram integration. If I switch that off, the poscast player works. Still weird though, as the podcast player has nothing to do with instagram.

@uiuiui7 It is possible that the podcast player refers to an Instagram URL which is blocked by the Instagram integration.

As long as you’re not using Instagram on your site, I would just ignore the problem. If you are using Instagram as well, we would set up a testing environment with the podcast player to see why is it being blocked.

    Leon

The podcast player definitely doesn’t refer to an Instagram URL, at least that’s what the Podcast Player developers are claiming.

With 2 of my 3 sites it is no problem, but with my site https://www.uiuiuiuiuiuiui.de which is a blog, where I am sharing stuff I find on the internet, it is necessary for me to also embed instagram content.

    regards,

    Manuel

I currently have the same problem on my website. Disabling the Instagram service solves the problem, but I am embedding an Instagram feed on my website.

Is there a fix for this problem?

    Hi @drwebdesign,

    Could you share your URL?

    regards Aert

PS: If you want it private, you can start a new thread an add the link there; for logged-in users only.
