My WP site was built by someone over 5 years ago…and they’d used some kind of coding (that I was not aware of at the time). There is page that houses my blog posts in that coded format.

In the last year my WP site has had people go in and change other parts of my WP site using Elementor.

Today, I (an non-tech person) personally went into my WP site and uploaded the Podcast Importer plugin, in the hopes that it would import my podcast into a blog format/template. The upload of the plugin went smoothly. HOWEVER, there is no “Media File” showing on any of the blog posts (there are 121 of them)– no icons for listening, sharing, or downloading, etc.

My WP site is hosted on SiteGround; and they told me that they are not able to help me with this and had to contact www.remarpro.com directly. So, here I am and I need help to get this fixed. Can anyone advise/guide/help me pleeeeeeease????

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hey @drd777,

Thanks for using our plugin and for reaching out!
I suspect this is due to the “audio embed” option.

Could you please try to delete all imported posts, and try to run the importer once again? This time, make sure to NOT use the “Audio Embed Import” option, and I think it’d work better.

    Thank you for replying.
By Deleting, do you mean uninstalling OR actually deleting each podcast post and then reactivating the plugin (I’m not quite sure how to do that last one). And would doing what you recommend (e.g. “delete” them) mean that my WP site will automatically get rid of the posts that had gotten uploaded.

    Hi again.
I just tried to delete a bulk of the posts and have gotten a message from my Yoast Premium plugin that such an action is not advisable. I have since restored the posts.

Now, I am unsure about what to do so that my site visitors and my SEO is not going to get messed up…

Please advise of any alternative things I can do.

    Thank you.

If you’re using the Pro version of our plugin, I believe you can run a “forced” sync that’ll update all previously imported episodes. That could help fixing the audio player.

    Hi.
I don’t have the Pro Version.
I have the free version that came up when I searched for it on my WP admin site.

So, will the Free version not work?

So with the free version you’ll have to manually delete the posts the plugin imported in order to re-import. That shouldn’t be a problem though as it’s most probably easy to find the posts you’ve imported based on the category/type/format/title etc.

Simply delete those posts (also from the trash) and run the importer again, you should be all set.

I appreciate your patience with me as I work through this.
When I tried to delete the posts manually, I am getting a Yoast error message stating that I should not do this (and it referenced one of their articles (https://yoast.com/deleting-pages-from-your-site/#utm_source=yoast-seo&utm_medium=software&utm_term=&utm_content=redirection&utm_campaign=wordpress-support&php_version=7.3&platform=wordpress&platform_version=6.0.1&software=premium&software_version=19.6&days_active=365plus) which made me unsure about what steps to take or what to consider taking. [NOTE: I’m not a tech person, and don’t have “tech help”/expertise to know which route would be best for my site.]. Since, I have the Free version of Podcast Importer, and I don’t want visitors to experience seeing any “not found” messages or get redirected incorrectly (NOTE: I don’t know how to do the redirecting and don’t know where I would redirect them to), what would you recommend that I do?

Again, these are podcast episodes which — when all is said and done — I would like to have repurposed on my website along with the appropriate icons for “playing,” “downloading,” “sharing,” etc. And is the “manual delete”, unclick the “embed” option, and “re-upload/re-run” the free-version plugin going to fix this?

    Hi again,

Well, if you just imported the posts in bulk, there wouldn’t be a problem deleting them, then shortly after – importing them again.

You can also edit the posts manually and set the player if you prefer, but that sounds like a lot of work.

If you can’t find a way to do it yourself, and want to automate it, the Pro version is always an option as you can override previously imported episodes.

Note that the Pro version isn’t required to get what you’re trying to achieve in general, as long as you find a way to update the posts (by either deleting and import again or override) it’ll work as expected.

Hi. I went back into my WP site and uploaded/reinstalled a backup of my site (a version two days prior to when I’d installed the Podcast Importer app). I then reinstalled the free version of Podcast Importer (and did not check any boxes for embedding)…and the episodes STILL did not upload with the default WP media player :(((

Please advise as to what the issue is and how to fix it.

    Thank you.

Hi. I just now went in and did something that you’d mentioned to someone else 2 years ago about the ( /?include-libsyn-metadata=true ) being added onto the end.

    It works now.
Thank you again for your help and patience :))))))

Perfect! Yeah this bit of URL is required for Libsyn-hosted podcasts (assuming you import the audio embed option).

That’s why I’ve recommended to avoid using it, but adding that bit to the URL should also work!
