pmpro_member_profile attribute/value pair

I’m late to the party but I am excited to see that PaidMembershipsPro has ‘adopted’ this plugin to replace their former recommended solution for user-uploaded avatars. It’s exemplary product support from Stranger Studios.

Only I can’t get it working with PaidMembershipsPro’s member directory.

I use the [basic-user-avatars] short code to render the avatar upload form on my profile edit page. The form element renders and I can upload a new image. But when I click ‘Update Avatar’ I expect the image to appear only it doesn’t. I see a ‘missing image’ icon instead.

I update a profile avatar when I’m in the admin profile edit page. Is there some permission I need to add? If so, where?
