  • Hey SidianMSJones – I just tried looking at your site but it doesn’t appear that PMPro is activated right now, is it? Also, much of the Pagelines thread you posted is ‘private’ and can’t be read without logging in. The JPG that the support guy posted would be particularly useful but we can’t access that. Maybe you can repost it somewhere else so that we can take a look. (Not suggesting that I personally can offer solutions, this question may be one that Jason needs to answer.)

You’re right, I had it deactivated but have reactivated it now.

Sorry about the forum post. I’ll copy/paste here.

    Rob:
The HTML of the page seems to be corrupted. It looks like some link to PaidMembership may be the culprit.

See the red text in the attachment. It’s an errant closing tag, as there’s no opening tag. The page breaks after the morefoot.

    Sidian:
Interesting. Even when I deactivate the plugin the issue is still there. Looks like I need to modify the plugin? Guess I’ll take it from here. Thanks Rob.

    Rob:
    No problem.

It seems to have inconveniently embedded itself in your code. You may want to check their forum or support to see why it does this and if there’s any solution.

    Sidian:
Strangely enough, I found the tags and deleted them, but no avail, so I’ve put them back just in case. Does this still indicate that the plugin has done this?

    Rob:
It may have written to the database. I’m not really sure. The best source for this will be the plugin developer.

I’m a little skeptical that this is a PMPro issue… Our site doesn’t have any </footer> tag in it and we’ve got PMPro turned on. Just because a tag comes right before that “Powered By” comment doesn’t mean that PMPro inserted it. The tag that comes right before the “Powered By” line in our site’s code is from another plugin entirely. The fact that the bad tags were still there even when you disabled PMPro is another sign to me that it’s coming from somewhere else.

I thought it was strange the tags would stay after deactivating, and had my reservations as well. But I figured, hey I’m not a programmer and I assume the Pagelines guys know what they are doing. Not sure what to do now…

Thanks for your help though, I’ll see what I can manage.

    Hi Sidian,

Just following up on behalf of Jason, the developer – Pagelines is probably not the best to advise you in the use of the plugin, but Jason has worked with a variety of WordPress themes and custom designs and can help you out.

If you would like more guidance or hands on help implementing this solution with Paid Memberships Pro, please sign up at https://www.paidmembershipspro.com/pricing.

It is just a coincidence that the code highlighted in red shows up next to the comment that PMPro adds through the wp_footer hook.

You need to figure out what part of your theme (footer.php) actually includes that HTML to fix it.

(Does the problem go away when you deactivate PMPro?)

Since there have been no further replies, I’m going to close this thread.
