• Hi Folks, so i’ve got WordPress installed on a Windows 2019 Server in Azure – it’s working fine, but I’m trying to use some plugins which use API calls to a 3rd Party Site and it just doesn’t seem to work. This is 3 different plugins, which are owned by 3 different companies (one is the SumUp Payment Gateway).

NB: These plugins work on our site hosted WebHosting

Can anyone shed some light on the potential cause?

Are you blocking outgoing connections from that server? Seems like you have a firewall issue.

Defaults on Azure for outgoing on the NSG, which allows everything. And I’ve even tried disabling Windows Firewall.

I should add that I have Wiresharked the connection and can see chatter between the services, but ‘something’ stops it from working (I can’t see that something on wireshark).

I’m no Windows sysadmin, but it it works on another site but not on this host, then there’s something in the hosting stack. If the site is able to get a connection to the external API, then maybe there are some filters (i.e., like running mod_security) involved.

This is what makes this situation so frustrating – I AM a Windows SysAdmin. I’ve manually run through:
    Windows Server 2019 Datacenter Edition
    IIS 10 Install
    PHP 7.4.18 Installed
    mySQL 5.5
    Wordpress 5.7.1

I dont have mod_security running as far as I’m aware (certainly I didnt install it and havent enabled it).

    Appreciate any pointers, of course.
