Plugins will not activate / re-activate

Hi there.

I am beginning to have some major difficulties with my blog at dan-atkinson.com. It all started when I wanted to use Akismet (using Spam Karma 2 before). I de-activated SK2 and then promptly activated Akismet. The page reloaded telling me that it had activated but the button for Akismet still said ‘activate’ and no options were available for it.

After some investigation, I decided to de-activate all plugins in my plugin folder (PJW WordPress Check, Arne’s Google Sitemap and Bryan Palmer’s BDPRT). One by one, I tried to re-activate them to no avail. Not a single one will turn off. I have since renamed the plugins folder and attempted to reupload the plugins starting with Akismet. Even with just that in a clean folder, it will not activate.

As of this moment, I can’t turn on any new plugins and my blog is pretty wide open to comment spam (which it gets a bit of).

Any help on resolving this matter would be great.
