• Hi,

I’ve been trying to resolve an issue with my blog for the past two days and I don’t know where to turn. I am trying to update plugins and, when I select the plugins to update, I get an error message saying “Please select one or more plugins to update.”

I think this is part of a larger issue, since I have been unable to upload images (I’m getting an HTTP Error Message) and I can’t update to WP 4.4.1 (it says “are you sure you want to do this?” followed by “Try again.”

A previous thread suggested I change my permission settings to at least 644, which they are. I chatted with a representative from Bluehost and was ensured that it wasn’t an issue with my file permissions.

So now I’m back at square one, asking for assistance. Can anyone shed any light on my issue?

    Thanks

  • Did you try with 777 for debugging only? Seems to me that the updates cannot occur because of write permissions…

What files do you suggest I change to 777? (I’m sorry, I’m quite a novice with all of this). Do I change index.php and install.php or uploads/themes/plugins or all? Right now, index.php and install.php are at 644 and uploads, themes, plugins and upgrade are at 755

Try recursive 777 on the whole worpdress directory. Update the website, and then IMMEDIATELY recursively CHMOD the folders to 775 and files to 644

Is there a way to do the whole directory at once? I did each individually and then tried to update my website. Nothing changed, so I reverted to what the values were previously

And by that, I mean that under wp-content I individually changed each of the files (eg uploads, themes, index etc) to 777 and then tried to see if my website worked.

I tried multiple times to change the settings to 777 and see if the uploads work on the blog. They don’t. I’ve changed it back. Can anyone provide further assistance?
