    Hi.
I accidentally made an automated piwik installation to my workpress-main folder. This deleted the index.php and switchted php 5.5 to 5.6.

I of course replaced the wordpress index.php, but the site is not working anymore. First it gave me an error “SGExceptionMethodNotAllowed: Cannot create folder:…” related to my “backup guard” folder, after solving that I got a WP3 cache error.
After solving those I can access the WP dashboard, but now WP looks like it only contains the pages. All plugins + all themes seem gone. And apart from the start page no url can be opened.

It was a fully working page before, and via FTP everything looks fine.
Also switching back to php 5.5, and manually removing WP3 cache didn’t help.
So I would be very glad if anyone has some advice on this issue!
    Many thanks!

Your plugins and themes should be under the /wp-content/ directory, as /wp-content/plugins/ and /wp-content/themes/ . Are those directories still there?

Do you have a backup of the site prior to the incident?

As for the URLs not working, try re-saving your permalink structure at Settings/Permalinks in your admin panel. If WordPress cannot automatically edit the .htaccess file, it will provide manual instructions after saving.

    Thanks for the answer!
The folders are there and seem unchanged.
I had made a backup using “backup guard”, but I cannot access it. Under plugins where it should be, WP just says “You do not appear to have any plugins available at this time.”

Regarding the permalinks I checked the .htaccess and it does contain the code WP suggests.
Still the link structure is missing and the website doesn’t show up. And on the WP panel neither themes nor plugins can be found (nor even the standart WP themes). The pages and their content can still be found and edited in WP. And in WP their permalinks are the same as before, but outside WP they don’t show up.

    Any more ideas?
    Many thanks.

It seems that the path to the backup would be: /...wordpress installation path/wp-content/uploads/backup-guard/...backup name you want to download/ directory

Would you be able to share a link to your site? It would be easier to get an idea of what’s going on if we can see it.

If you do have a backup prior to the incident, try restoring it first though.

    Hi.
Many thanks for your prior comments.
I just had someone over to help me. It turned out that the problem was that the access permissions of some files and folders were changed. The folders plugins and themes were set to 644 instead of 755 so they could not been accessed by WP. The wp_config, too, was set to wrong permissions.
After setting all those things right, I could re-activate the plugins and it seems to be working fine again.
    Many thanks again!
    Best, Florian
