Plugins that do the same thing

I was just wondering if it would cause any problems to install different plug-ins that do the same thing? For example, there are a few security plug-ins that remove the “wp_generator tag” from the header, a few other plug-ins remove pages from the page list so that they don’t show up in the menu, etc. etc..

There are just so many plug-ins that do the same thing, but all have one or two other functions that are unique to themselves and are worth installing. I just don’t want to cause any problems by installing different plug-ins that do the same thing!
