• I am using WP 2.7. In this admin area page:
    /wp-admin/plugins.php

    I see this:

To manually install a plugin you generally just need to upload the plugin file into your /homepages/41/d105795960/htdocs/wp-content/plugins directory.

Not everybody has this directory setting. I suggest rewriting this as only referring to /wp-content/plugins directory.

Oh, I guess in my Control Panel it just shows me wp-content/plugins directory. Nothing about homepages or htdocs. Thanks for the answer anyway.

It depends on the server. Not all providers create htdocs or www or whatever directories.
If you only see “wp-content/plugins”, where did you see “homepages/41/d105795960/htdocs/wp-content/plugins”?

I see “homepages/41/d105795960/htdocs/wp-content/plugins” within the WP dashboard.

I have mentioned this point in my original post:
“I am using WP 2.7. In this admin area page:
    /wp-admin/plugins.php
    I see this:”

Like I said, homepages/41/d105795960/htdocs/wp-content/plugins is the physical location of your plugins directory, you will only see this when using FTP with your webhost.
That path is being exctracted by WordPress and is being displayed for your information. The next user sees something that is specific for his setup.
    I, for example, see /web/WebSites/d/m/o/d/domain.at/htdocs/wordpress/wp-content/plugins ??
