• Hi everyone

I was wondering, I am thinking of getting a new laptop. With my existing blog, I am just about to explore the world of plugins. I know that with plugins you need to download, then install to wordpress then activate. My question is, where does it actually go? Will it be on my computer or will it be on wordpress altogether? I ask because I am getting a new laptop and wondering if I should just start exploring plugins on my new laptop instead.

While we are at this, is there anything else that I should just wait and do on my new laptop rather than on this laptop? I am talking about things that you need to install again (for example) on your new laptop

  • hi
firstly do a backup all of your files
next if you have a website on the external server, then all your plugins are there: wp-content/plugins
but if you have any localhost then all files connected with your website are on your computer

    Hello Wirtandi,

As WordPress is a server-side scripting language so data saves on server. If you are working online and even if you change your laptop still there will be no issue you can install as many plugins as you want on old laptop and then can move to new laptop. But if you want to get WordPress offline then you should have an instance of WordPress on your system and then plugins will be saved on system. Then every time you change the laptop then you have to install plugins on that instance.

    Thank you.
