Plugins not visible in admin panel if in subfolder

  • Plugins that are in a subfolder (i.e. /wp-content/plugins/subfolder/plugin.php) are not visible in my admin panel. Plugins that are in the plugins root folder are visible and I can activate them as usual. Possibly related problem: none of my theme previews are visible in the admin panel (although I can still activate them without any problems).

    I’ve tried reinstalling plugins/themes and checking permissions.

    This problem happened immediately after my site host (Siteground) moved my site to another server. They insist that this move is not related.

    Any advice you have is most appreciated.
