Plugins not showing up?

  • Can anyone tell me why my new plugins are not showing up on my Dashboard controls? I installed a few successfully last night with no problems, but the ones that I’ve uploaded tonight aren’t showing up even though I’m certain they’re in the right directory. Any ideas?

    I’ve uploaded them into the /wp-content/plugins directory – is that not correct? That’s the directory where all the other plugins are that are functioning correctly…

    that depends.. whats the the name of the directory thats above wp-content/

    some ppl have have a www/ <– thats a symlink, and NOT where they go (its a common mistake)

    some ppl have a public_html/

    some ppl have something else..

    and do the plugins require their own directory, are there multiple files? are all those files uploaded…

    names of the plugins and download links would help also.

    This is going to sound stupid, but I just did THIS TODAY, so it could be your problem?

    I unzipped a few plugins to the appropriate LOCAL folder for my site, and then couldn’t figure out why they weren’t loading in Dashboard. Simple… I never uploaded them! I was looking at my local file set, not the remote set on the server. I use Dreamweaver, and never hit the “Put files” button!

    Hopefully you’re not as stupid as I am, but I’m just throwing that one out there….

    I just can’t figure this out. All of my files are uploaded in it’s proper folder. I’m trying to install socialble.
