• Hi, whenever I install a new plugin, it says that “update failed”, even though it actually installed and I can see this when I reload the page, the install button has turned to “activate”.

When I then click activate, it brings me to a completely blank page with a “settingsettings” button in the top left that when I click it, brings me to a random plugin’s settings.

The plugin works fine after this but I was wondering why this happens?

  • Just an idea without knowing your website….
Do you have a cache plugin installed? If you don’t also check with the web hosting provider or check your server (if you run your own server) for caching modules.

Some server side cache or WP based cache may cause these types of random errors. To fix them, you need to configure your caching plugin or server module to not to interfere with the wp-admin side of things.
