Plugins keep being disabled
-
Hi, Since updating to 6.05 I have found that ALL of my plugins keep being disabled after a short time. I manually activate them all again, checked that Plugin organiser is running and the selective plugin loading is on – it remembers the plugin preferences I had selected for certain pages, and then after a number of hours, all the plugins are deactivated again. Any thoughts as to what is going on?

Here is a list – hard to see but didn’t have a way to list all of them https://goo.gl/photos/dD9GQ2tGvU9M4MXy8
Basically anything Lazy Load – as soon as cache is cleared it immediately disables. We’ve tried several to test including a pro one (Image Lazy Load Pro). All have the same result.
Only happens when we have plugin organizer enabled – even with everything else disabled.
WP Engine manages the wordpress install. We have access to everything though. Never had an issue with any lazy load plugin before.
Hoping to be able to get this worked out as we love the performance ticks your plugin provides.
Thanks.
Is there a way to just exclude a plugin from your plugin all together?
Sorry, I too only just received notification of the replies to this thread. For me, every single plugin (including ones like woo commerce, Slider revolution, Wp-bakery, and all my theme plugins) had been disabled site-wide on the WordPress plugins page. After this happened 3 times (bringing my entire site down), I disabled plugin organiser, and all has been well. I haven’t been game to enable the organizer plugin since, as I can’t afford the downtime, so wanted to know if others had the same issue.
Hello
I can confirm that something like this is happening to me too.
However, it is the first time I have used this plugin so I did not know if it was me doing something wrong – and that might still be the case. Let me break it down what is happening on my site as this may help a little if it is a bug.
First of all, praise where it’s due – when this plugin functions it’s seems awesome.
I have a big site that is trying to do a lot of things on different pages, bit ambitious but hey.
I run woocommerce and associated plugins, which as most will know run on every page. I used to dequeue scripts and css until woocommerce pages and that worked well. However, when I saw this plugin and the fine tuning capabilities it offers I nearly pissed my pants with excitement.
On the first attempt at using the plugin it seemed to work perfectly.
I used httpbasic watch to see what plugins were loading up and I disabled them using the plugin filter at first. quick test worked great! I then worked out that you could use the override post settings on the page, so I tried that. after I worked out that I was conflicting with the plugin filter and just used one method, it again seemed to work great.
It worked so well that I halved the page load time – I was very impressed.
Then some problems started occurring when I went through each of my pages. Trying to do the same and only load up the plugins needed for that page. Then certain pages were not working I was getting error messages and sometimes fatal ones.
I eventually noticed that the plugins had been disabled in the WordPress plugin page. That is the main plugin page.
I have been through different permutations with this pluging trying to learn if it’s me or the way I have configured it. But it eventually turns off the plugin entirely rather than selectively.
Here is a run down of what I am using

At the moment I have one plugin that does not function as it should which is wcvendors, but the authors are or that, fixing it up.
If there is any other information I can provide please let me know.
I run the site through cloudflare.
regards
I don’t see anything in there that jumps out as the culprit. So far the only thing I see that you guys have in common is you are using cloud based hosting. Can the other people who’ve posted on this see what plugins you have in common with this list?
Do any of you have a customized plugin directory location? In other words did you change the location of your plugin directory from /wp-content/plugins?
Hi
Yes, I use Ithemes security plugin to give me some extra security tweaks and one of those tweaks is to rename the wp-admin or wp-content folder. I cant remember which right at this second. I obviously don’t know how it works but that is definitely one of the things that plugin does. And yes I use CloudFlare and their beta rocket loader script.
I will have a play tonight at disabling rocket loader feature, although it seems like a good feature on CloudFlare and would be a shame to lose it. On my way to work now so can’t do much until tonight.
regards
markIt’s because you renamed your plugin directory and the variable that WP uses to find that directory isn’t set properly. Try setting the constant WP_PLUGIN_DIR to the location of your plugin directory and see if that helps.
Ahhh
I will try that and let you know
FYI this needs to be the absolute path to your plugin directory. You can set it in wp-config.php like this.
define('WP_PLUGIN_DIR', '/path/to/your/plugin/directory');
Update to version 6.0.9 and see if that fixes your problem.
ok just got home and managed to update plugin. I will keep you posted
Hi there,
Same problem here, but because I have tested it only since yesterday, I need to be more specific and describe what happened on my installation.
1 – Randomly, Plugin Organizer just switch off some of my plugins (admin area). I really don’t know why and it seems it’s clearly a bug and not a misconfiguration. I have the global settings set to ON, and have just deactivated some plugins on my custom post types. No groups created, no filter, just a basic stuff.
2 – One of the most exciting feature is the ability to re-order the plugins’ load. But I can’t figure out why Plugin Organizer is always displaying the same error message, something like “Changes were not unique so no changes have been saved”. I have found one or 2 guys in the commentaries who had the same problem, but not solved.
That’s a pity because your plugin seems to be great.
NB : I have desactivated the “rename-on-the-fly” feature of my SwiftSecurity plugin for critical folders.
@moxymore: This is not your topic. If you require assistance then, as per the Forum Welcome, please post your own topic.
Yes it sounds like moxymore is experiencing the same issue, so this is the thread to post to.
Has anyone experienced success with the latest version 6.09 (I’ve found that it can take up to 12 hours before all the plugins get disabled on the WP plugin page). Also, just a few things to add regarding my install, my site is c-panel hosted (not cloud) and everything was working perfectly until the 6.05 update. This is why I’m keen to see if anyone has experienced the problem on 6.09 before I try updating and activating he plugin again.
