• I am new to this world of plugins: having migrated from wp.com to wp.org, I seem to have lost my (only 2) plugins. They are present on the FTP dashboard (FileZilla) and when I try to reload them I get an error message telling me that the file already exists (which I knew, but thought I’d try it anyway).

I’ve tried re-naming them in FTP, and then renaming back to the correct name, but still no luck.
    Any advice gratefully received
    Thanks

  • Have you tried re-installing them from the WordPress plugin repository (Plugins>Add New and then search)?

    What plugins are you missing?

    Mark ??

    Hi Mark,

I’m missing the Contact form 7 and WordPress installer

I tried re-installing them but I got the error message telling me that they are already installed

However, I also tried to install Yoast yesterday, and it came up with an error message, so I tried again today and it’s worked, so I might just give it another go
    Thanks
    Hugh

    Hi Hugh,

I’ve never heard of a WordPress Installer plugin. Have you ever used it? I don’t think you need this (whatever it is).

You could try deleting the directories for both plugins from the plugins directory via FTP and then try installing from the repository. (be sure to backup the site first).

I wondered if you had the correct write permissions but if you managed to install Yoast then you must have.

Also, when you say “lost”, do you mean they do not show up under “Plugins”?

    Thanks

    Mark
