Plugins for exhibition site

Hi
Im new to the forum and fairly new to wordpress so please excuss my ignorance.

Im currently being comissioned to design an exhibition website for a third year demonstration university for design students. This includes product, multimedia, graphic etc so some of the files sizes will be fairly big

What im after is what would be best to set this site up? Ive decided to use wordpress as its the best blog ive used and also because of the pages bonus. This will allow the student themselves to add their own content without me the manager to upload and create every page for a student.

Ive had a brief look at the plugins like audio, video etc but is their anyone who has experience in setting this up or has any suggestions ideas that would be helpful??
