• I really hope I’m not asking a question that has already been answered, but I’ve searched the forums for the past hour or so, so here goes…

I’ve just upgraded to WordPress 2.1.3 and I was trying to install a plugin for putting Flickr photos in my posts. I’ve tried a few different ones, following the instructions in the Read Me files but can’t get them to appear in the plugins page for activation.

I’m uploading the plugin files (as instructed) to my website’s plugin folder (domainname/wordpress/wp-content/plugins) but…nothing. The default plugins that WordPress automatically installs show up on the plugins page, but nothing I upload does.

Here’s what I’m wondering…my WordPress folder is not in the root folder on my server. There’s a main folder for my website and there’s a wordpress folder inside that. Would this be affecting WordPress’ ability to “see” the plugins and, if so, what would I need to edit in order to fix this?

If not, can anyone offer other suggestions that might explain why WordPress cannot “see” or access these newly uploaded plugins? (For the record, I have ensured the permissions on the new plugins are the same as the ones on existing, functional plugins.)

Thanks, so much, in advance for any help you might be able to offer.

Checking back in…no one has any thoughts on this?

    Please?

I am having the same problem…

It could be that when you unzipped the folder that the plugin folder – the one you must upload – is actually inside the other folder, here and example of the folder structure after you unzipped it.

pluginname v_?.?/pluginname/files, [most plugins have version names] you need to upload the pluginname/files .

This also happened to me a couple of times and all plugins I have downloaded work with my WP 2.3.2 – Maby I’ll jot them all down and post a list.

I was having this same problem.

My host recently upgraded to WordPress 2.3.3. I started updating my plugins and adding some new ones and removing some old ones.

I did all this as I was supposed to — I thought — working on getting everything in apple pie order on my hard drive blog directory.

And nothing was showing up on the blog plugins page.

And then DOH! I remembered that I have to upload the new plugins from my local machine to the server!

    Now everything is fine.
