• 1. Started suing wordpress.com for first blog.
    2. Needed plugins and more flexibility with site.
    3. Did QuickInstall 3.5 through HostGator.
    4. Logged onto my wordpress and keeps defaulting to wordpress.com with no plugins.

    * correction…using not suing

    I did wonder… ??

    I’m sorry but you’re in the wrong place. These forums are for self-hosted WordPress sites only. Please try asking your question on https://en.forums.wordpress.com/

    One question: Did you change the nameserver settings of your domain name to point ot the new Hostgator hosting account? If not that’s what you need to do. Domain names don’t automatically change where they are pointing to if you set up a new hosting account sonewhere, so you need to it manually. Hostgator shoudl have given you the details that you need for that in your ‘Welcome’ email.

    I did not change the nameserver settings to my domain name. I went through the tutorials and setup and can not find how to do it. I am waiting on the support at hostgator to help me find it. Thank you

    You actually need to do that on your WordPress.COM account under domain management – change the nameservers to HostGator:

    Thank you for your assistance. I was able to edit the named servers in wordpress.com. I then logged off and logged back on. I still do not see plugins on the side menu bar, but I do see other features that were not there before, such as Akismet Stats and Omnisearch.

    Nameserver changes can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 72 hours to propegate correctly before you’ll see the new site. As you’ve been accesisng the old site I don’t think that it will be quick thanks to various ISP’s around caching the DNS results. Be patient, and your new site will show up very soon.
