• This is probably a very stupid question and I hope you don’t ban me from this forum for asking it:

Where are the plugins that I have uploaded?

They are not in the plugin section on my blog.

  • Where did you upload them to? Should be wp-content/plugins/

    Thread Starter redhead

I did! And there are not in the Plugin folder.

    How did you upload them?

It would be nice if you killed that dumb “pirate” popup thing if you want help.

    plugins go here

wp-config.php <– this tells you youre at the root of your WP install
    /wp-includes/
    /wp-admin/
    /wp-content/
    |
    plugins/ <————————
    themes/

Do NOT upload them to www/so on and so on

www is a symlink, follow the ACTUAL path to your plugins directory when you are uploading.

The path that I followed is the one that is being offered to me in FTP. Which is: public html > blog > wp-admin, wp-content, and wp-includes is in the same file. Plugins is inside of wp-includes. How do I change it to look like above. I am not a technical person.

wp-includes is a folder (or directory) it cannot be in any “file”.

    wp-admin
    wp-content
wp-includes – all should be on the same level, not in “each other”.

If they are not like that – your install is screwed up.
    Delete and re-upload.

the above is what you are aiming for.

note that the top level wordpress folder is JUST a folder.. it could be the root of your site. Its the stuff inside there in the image that you need to pay attention to.

scubadiver, The way youve apparantly installed things its no wonder anything works at all.

wp-admin, wp-content, and wp-includes is on the same level. I am still learning the lingo. plugins is in the wp-included directory. Is this right? If so, why aren’t they showing up in the plugin file on my blog?

No, folder plugins must be in folder wp-content.

Thank you for your help, everyone. I learned a lot.
