I deactivated the plug-in and tried to remove it. It got all the way through and even to where it says “click here to finish uninstall”
When I do that it takes me to the plugin page where the plugin appears to be gone but there is still a menu in the control panel for calendar. With the usual options of creating and even running the uninstall. It’s not that I don’t like the plug in, I do…but on this particular site I don’t need it. If the uninstall is broken, it makes me hesitant to use it on my other sites.

I found the problem. I’ll explain what was going on in case anyone else does. Sorry for the pre-mature posting. ??

This is a multi-site network. The plugin was deactivated and uninstalled on the main site…but not on the network plugins page. Once that was done all is well.
