I’m actually using version 3.5.1, not available in the drop-down above for this thread. YARPP used to have a “tags” option so that it used tags only and not categories. That option seems to have disappeared with my latest update. Am I missing something?

I have been strategic with my tags (for YARPP) over the last couple of years, and now related posts are showing up for all posts in same category, when I’d rather related posts not show up at all if I have not added any tags for the post. For example, I put sponsored posts in the “Sponsored Post” category; however I do not want other sponsored posts (competitors) showing up in the related posts, so I leave the tag blank.

  • I am having the same issue – there is no choice for disallowing certain tags, categories as there used to be. Just tried re installing.

How do I access the function “Disallowing certain tags or categories:” as in the description of the plugin?

Yes, I saw that in the description too, that tags may be used, but I don’t have that option. It’s a bummer that I spent years using that feature and tagging my posts accordingly, just for it to stop working.

I just learned how to do this and saw a few others needed it to:

Go the YARRP settings page and click “screen options” in the upper right-hand corner of the page. The, check the box to show “relatedness options.” This will display the options tab for whether YARRP should consider tags, categories, etc.

For more granular control — ie: to consider certain tags, but not others — also check the box for “the pool.”

@talkstory bless your heart lol. thank you! i can’t believe it was there all along. that option was turned off AND hidden ever since my last upgrade. glad to know 3 years of tagging just for YARPP wasn’t done in vein lol.

I needed this, too, thanks, talkstory! (Maybe someone could mark this resolved, now?)

Glad I could help! I’ve spent hours banging my head against the wall for thing like this. LOL.

Thanks Talkstory it helped me too ??
