[Plugin: XML Sitemap & Google News Sitemap Feeds] Speed ??of indexing

  • Hello, I appreciate very much your plugin: very simple, we install and nothing to do ^ ^ The sitemap is really full.

    In recvanche I’m not convinced not to notify search engines: I did some tests between your plugin and Google XML Sitemap and my items (I have a website on the news) are indexed much faster with this last. Google XML Sitemap that is between 10 and 15 minutes and your sometimes with more than 5 hours.

    This is not dramatic but I think you should improve this parameter to be better than Google XML Sitemap.

    Last point: in my case I have about 1400 items, your plugin reference all articles (parfait!) but opening the XML file is quite long. I ask myself this question: is it a handicap for some search engines?

    Thanks for the tests you did. I’ll consider your pinging request for the upcoming release.

    About the speed issue: it is indeed said that sitemap spiders have a short attention span. So the speed of your sitemap might become an issue, yes.

    I have adressed the topic in the plugin description and FAQ’s where I advise using a caching plugin.

    I have worked on compatibility with WP Super Cache which I can highly recommend. With the correct settings, it will cache the xml sitemap and at the same time considerably improve your overall website speed. A win-win situation: your sitemap is sure to get indexed and your page rank improves because of better page speed ??

    I use Quick Cache that works fairly well (most sense for my needs).

    By cons, since yesterday evening I noticed a mistake for Google News sitemap … This error appears since I install / uninstall your plugin.

    I can not isolate the bug because the message is in French and I can not access the virtual XML.

    And did Quick Cache not cache the XML Sitemap feed?

    About the Google News sitemap issue: can you give me link so I can take a look?
