Hi everyone – I receive a lot of questions about this plugin, so maybe explaining how it works will clear things up.

First, the plugin looks at the images you upload via WordPress / media. So if you’re hotlinking to other images, or upload them via FTP, those will not appear in the sitemap.

Next, the plugin catches 404 (not found) errors and will dynamically serve the XML if the file requested is the sitemap (sitemap-image.xml). There is no file created on your server.

Finally, when you view yourdomain.com/sitemap-image.xml, you may see “This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.” – that’s OK. I didn’t add any style to it, because Google (and the other bots) don’t need it to look pretty. They just want the raw data, which is what the plugin returns.

If you are having problems, email me! For some reason, even though I’m the author, I don’t get notified of comments on www.remarpro.com. My contact info is in the plugin, or on ericnagel.com
