    yes, this is possible but not sure whether all authors will like getting emails or not. sometimes it may be irritating. Also all the plugin settings are managed by admin so author can not control this email sending functionality in case he does not want to receive that.

    how about sending a daily/weekly digest?
    or somehow being able to indicate the changes to a logged in user?
