Actually I just realized it is still creating the new account, just returning a 500 error.

Sorry for the delay in responding.

there isnt really anything in the wpdirauth plugin that would cause a 500 error that I can think of. However, there are several things given your changing domains that could cause that error.

Does the 500 error ONLY occur in the situation you described? Do you see it happening at all with non ldap-authenticated accounts?

Also, what version of the wpdirauth plugin are you using? Are you running your site in network mode, or single site mode?

No problem on the delay, it doesn’t occur under other instances, I’m assuming because if you try logging in with an unknown(non ldap) login, you get the default wordpress wrong login message.

    wpdirauth 1.6.0
    wp 3.3.1

I just recently was working on this issue https://wordpress.stackexchange.com/q/52801/4090 and was kind of hoping it was related, but the problem persists.

    Thanks

and if you log in with an ldap-authenticated account that already exists in your system, everything works fine? If so, then i am absolutely baffled.

Since you mentioned the stack exchange post, there is one place where $_SERVER[‘HTTP_HOST’] is used and wonder if that is causing the problem? Specifically, the function wpDirAuth_loginFormExtra.
