[Plugin: WPBook] Blank Homepage when typed without (www)

  • I just upgraded to the latest version of this plugin 2.0.2 and next thing I know that the site’s main page was returning a blank white page (only when typed without www.)

    When I typed the site URL as defined in WordPress General Settings with the (www. in the domain) It loaded fine.

    I looked around all .htaccess settings etc, but had no luck. I then downgraded to the older version 2.0.1 and it worked fine.

    John, do you know what could be the error?

  • That’s just bizarre – sorry to hear it.

    WPBook doesn’t do anything with .htaccess and shouldn’t have any impact on how your site looks or functions outside Facebook.

    How did you upgrade? (Using the automatic function in WordPress or manually?)

    If manually, did you deactivate, remove all the files, and upload the new version, and reactivate, or copy over?

    Yes, I found it bizarre as well. I upgraded automatically. The only reason why I know it is being caused with this upgrade is because as soon as I downgrade this plugin, the site doesn’t have that issue.

    The only thing I can think could be at issue is the new version checking in 2.0.2, which checks to see if your have PHP5 before including files that use the try/catch format in PHP5.

    Maybe something’s gone wrong with those includes in certain hosting environments?

    Still wouldn’t explain why this only happens with or without www – unless your host is sending those requests to different servers?

    Is your site normally configured to accept both www. and non www versions?

    I’ve just tagged for release a version 2.0.3 that cleans up some of the include strategy and eliminates whitespace where another user (who commented on the blog) found an error.

    Can you try 2.0.3? You can always revert to 2.0.1

    Yes that fixed the error buddy. Yup the site is configured for the www. and non www. version.

    It is https://www.wpbeginner.com (I am pretty familiar with WordPress and all things around it) ??
