Also trying to find a solution to this, JQuery methods don’t seem to work.

adding the anchor to the h3 alone obviously doesn’t work, you need to switch the contents of

class=”wp-tab-content …

and

class=”wp-tab-title …

to the open state and close the default open one.

But how?
