Since upgrade to WP 3.3 I’m getting this error message on all WordPress installs on different domains and with different Twitter accounts:

“Connected, but getting a notice that your Authentication credentials are missing or incorrect? Check whether your Access token has read and write permission. If not, you’ll need to create a new token.”

All was working before. I’ve checked and Access tokens all have read and write permission. Even tried creating a new app and setting up from scratch with the same error.

Any ideas why this is happening?

That is not an error message. Are you actually having any problems?

Seems to work fine thanks. Just an issue with one blog that had the app I made suspended by Twitter for some reason (no idea why?) I went to check my other blogs and noticed this message on all of them but they’re all working fine.

I created a new app for the blog that experienced the error so hope that will solve it.

That message is intended to reduce the number of people contacting me with support requests because they didn’t make their apps read and write — so I made it obvious. It’s worked — I only get a tenth the requests for that reason that I used to.

Twitter can suspend apps for absolutely any reason they wish. There’s no practical recourse except to create a new one.

I had this same error and followed the directions perfect but still get the same error and my posts will not post to twitter. Figured out all you have to do is remove the CallBack URL from your twitter app and everything will start working. The error still shows up in the settings for me but it does work now. Figure I would let you know so no one spends 2 hours trying to figure out whats happening.

Thanks for that tip. I’ll add that to the FAQ for WP to Twitter.
