• Hiya,

I had a highly-reommended wordpress guru do some work on my site to help it handle our growth – but the guy left half-way into it. I was able to finish what we started, but now I’m not sure if his plan was best.

My question now is: would I be better off with WP-Super Cache?

I’ve got a medium-sized-but-growing WP multisite blog-farm and buddypress community. We’ve split our databases using shardb (256) and are currently using Memcached and Batcache.

    Our problems are:

    1. Batcache doesn’t play nice with BP/bbpress forums – comments don’t show up and thread permalinks even get changed. We’re currently looking for a patch, but our setup isn’t too common and nobody knows what to do.
    2. Shardb has a dp.php file, which prevented us from using W3TC because it has one as well. BUT, we really would like CDN capabilities and are having a hard time finding another solution. It looks like Super Cache offers one.
    3. Even though Batache is awesome for visitors, the site is still way too slow for logged-in members.

So, deactivating Batcache and trying WP-Super Cache shouldn’t be too hard…what would happen if we let Memcached on?

Does anyone know if Super Cache plays nicer with bbPress?

    Any issues with multi-db?

And, are we better off sticking with batcache and trying to find a forum fix?

    Thanks!

  • HTML caching (like super cache) probably isn’t going to help with your logged in users. Super cache should be fine with SharDB.

    Thanks Ron,

From what I can tell, Super Cache should function a lot like batcache in that regard – I’m just hoping it plays nicer with forums.

I am getting a boost from Memcached – is there any harm in using Memcached along with WP Super Cache?

I haven’t specifically tried SC with the BP internal forums. However, SC does work with BP. I’m fairly sure SC and memcached are compatible.
