[Plugin: WP Super Cache] Half-On Works, Super Caching Does Not
-
Dear Donncha,
I am using the latest WP and the latest version of your plugin.
1. When I enable Super Caching, a new page is generated for every hit.
When I open the same site in a new Firefox tab, the source has a different (more recent) timestamp. The file in my super cache folder also has a new timestamp.
What’s the use of caching a page if every time I open the site in a new tab, a new page is being generated by the plugin? It’s not supposed to work this way, is it?
2. When I enable Half-On Caching, the caching seems to work. When I restart Firefox, load the page and view the source… I see the same timestamp. When I open the page in another browser, load the page and view the source… also the same timestamp!
Seems to be working okay. It’s expected behavior.
But… When I view my page through a proxy such as https://www.hidemyass.com and I check out the source, there’s a different timestamp.
Granted, when I reload the page again through the same proxy, the timestamp doesn’t change.
But I don’t understand why I see a different timestamp depending on the computer I use to view my page.
Now I am left wondering if people from other IPs will all cause a page to be generated by your plugin. This would be a shame, because the whole idea of this caching stuff is that first time viewers have a speedy browsing experience on my site.
