• Hi,

Updated yesterday to super cache version 0.9.2 from 0.9.1 .

Server resources doubled after the first 18 hours after the update..

    See screenshot: https://img12.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=29095_1_122_373lo.JPG

CPU doubled, overal serverload doubled as well.

Wp super cache is working normally as usually, cached pages are created and the normal msg in the footer is present like always.
I use super cache on mode half on.

What do I have to check to find the issue? Since this cant be normal.

  • What version of PHP are you running? PHP5? And what revision? I need the exact version. X.Y…

    Maybe there’s a pattern ..

    The PHP versión is 5.2.6-1.el4.art.

Hey everyone. First of all thanks for the great plugin donncha – really appreciate the work.

Now, unfortunately 0.9.2 is wreaking havoc on my server. Our site gets around 5000+ visits a day, and is normally fine, however after upgrading to 0.9.2 the server crashes after around 10 minutes. The server load is fine, but it just seems to stop responding especially article pages. However after disabling the plugin it’s fine.

    Apache Version Apache/2.2.3 (CentOS)
PHP Version 5.2.6 (can’t find exact revision sorry)

Please help, will be sure to donate again to you as soon as I can get this fixed as our site wouldn’t survive without this plugin.

Grab https://svn.wp-plugins.org/wp-super-cache/trunk/wp-cache-phase1.php and https://svn.wp-plugins.org/wp-super-cache/trunk/wp-cache-phase2.php and copy into your plugins/wp-super-cache/ folder.

I reverted some changes, fixed a bug or two and passed the output buffer “by reference” to save memory. Working fine on https://ocaoimh.ie/ and https://inphotos.org/

Bah, coding at 5 in the morning sucks.

The 0.9.2 auto-upgrade was likely the cause of my server dying as well. My hosting provider said that too many SQL connections were left open and sleeping.

    Server specifics:
    Apache/2.2.3 (Ubuntu) DAV/2 SVN/1.4.3 PHP/5.2.1 mod_ssl/2.2.3 OpenSSL/0.9.8c

Hope this helps. Love the plugin.

c71123 – did you grab the files above and do as I suggest?

    PHP version 5.2.4-2ubuntu5.5 apache2handler
    Database mysqli 5.0.51a-3ubuntu5.4

raoulpop – did you grab the updated files this morning? Did they help?

Same issue here. Mysql brought down multiple times over the weekend.

    mysql: 5.0.45-6.fc7
    php: 5.2.6-2.fc7

Fix looks to be working at pestaola.gr. I noticed that cached pages are generated a bit slower. Maybe it’s just me. So far so good

Titanas – that’s good to hear the fix works. Shouldn’t be any difference in generation time though. Keep me posted on that please?

    Me again ??

I detected that y server only stays normal in a 12 hour timeframe, after that the server load increases to double or triple, it looks like the cache isnt working properly then anymore.

If I then do a update status + clear cache into the settings then it seems to work again for +/- 12 hours.

    PHP Version 5.2.5
    Apache version 2.0.63
    MySQL version 5.0.67-community
    linux

will try to post graphs in the next days so you can see the pattern
Havent yet tried out the new files, will do that in a few days so I can post the pattern as well. My blog has about 25k uniques/day just in case you needed that info.

Donncha, just uploaded the new files to my server and re-enabled the plugin, will let you know how things turn out. I’d been running my sites without the plugin since last night.

installed the files you suggested but that seems to crash wordpress… I replaced them by ftp , first turned the plugin off. Then reactivated the plugin and each page is blank after that even wordpress admin pages (cache is cleared)

I guess I’m not gonna do instant updates anymore..

I’m going to try the fix you suggested shortly, however, just for your reference my hosting provider came back and said this:

You can also see that the wordpress database is running very poorly from the open connections:

    mysql> show processlist;
    +——-+——-+———–+———————+———+——+——-+——————+
    | Id | User | Host | db | Command | Time | State | Info |
    +——-+——-+———–+———————+———+——+——-+——————+
    | 53664 | admin | localhost | wordpress | Sleep | 243 | NULL | NULL |
    | 54923 | admin | localhost | wordpress | Sleep | 1060 | NULL | NULL

There is around 136 lines of this. Hopefully these files you’ve suggested will fix this.

    Fingers crossed.
