[Plugin: WP Smush.it] WP Sumsh.it Version 1.6.0 doesn't work

I have the truly same problem with you where the new update 1.6 doesn’t work at all. And when we tried to smush it just get same message they are “Operation timed out after 20000 milliseconds with 0 bytes received”.

Does the new update not compatible with new wordpress 3.3.2 ??
And my google page speed go down after using the new update, whereas the past 1.5, it works.

What is the smart solution to resolve this problem ???

The plugin is working correctly: The problem is that Yahoo’s smush.it service is not 100% available.

And so the plugin v. 1.6 now accounts for this; detecting if the service is down and gracefully handing this error condition.

Assuming that you are correct and the plugin is working correctly, and it is just a coincidence that before I upgraded to v. 1.6 the plugin worked, but since I upgraded over a week ago it has never worked in dozens of attempts, I think it is a bit rich to describe it as “detecting if the service [Sumsh.it] is down and gracefully handing this error condition”.

There is nothing graceful or particularly informative about “Operation timed out after 20000 milliseconds with 0 bytes received” except telling me something I already knew; my images were not been Sumshed.

It would have been nice if we had been told that “The problem is that Yahoo’s smush.it service is not 100% available” which does tell us something useful.

Actually, from my experience, the service has been available 0% of the time for the past week. An amazing coincidence, assuming the plugin is working correctly!

@dogweather. Could you explain me what is “Yahoo’s smush.it service is not 100% available” Because when I use the privous version (1.5) it works well and the images are smushed automatically without Yahoo smush it. But when i use 1.6, it doensn’t work and the image are not smushed automatically

After weeks of never getting a single image Smushed I finally hit the jackpot.

I Smushed about 250 images with no problems this morning.

One thing, rather than using the Bulk Smush.it, I Smushed each image individually. Tedious, but it finally worked!

The smush.it plugin works as a bridge to yahoo’s smush.it service….something a lot of people didn’t know including a few clients who sounded just as confused and responded with “I don’t use yahoo”

What happens within the blink of an eye when you use the plugin is it takes the image, quickly sends it to yahoo’s smush.it service, and then sends back the compressed image for your site. The problem is the plugin is not able to connect to yahoo due to issues on yahoo’s end.
