[Plugin: WP Smush.it] Database queries on every page load?

I’ve been using the debug function of W3 Total Cache to see what queries are sent to the database when pages are loaded in the browser. I saw this one in the list:

SELECT option_value FROM wp_options WHERE option_name = 'wp_smushit_gif_to_png' LIMIT 1

I’m not sure what this means, but it seems very odd that this is being sent to the database every single time a page from my site loads. I would think this plugin would only send queries to the database when you’re uploading images.

Anyone know what’s up with this?
