    Hi,

I am running the Bulk Smush.it and it seems to be working so far. I have over 15,000 images, so I was wondering if it keeps running in the background even after I close the window?

Also, when I open another window and go to Bulk Smush.it again, I don’t see the updating list of processed images.

If I close the window, how will I know if it’s still smushing?

    Thanks!

Likely it’s not. Don’t close that window until it’s done.

Well the page stopped updating after a couple of hundred images. I’m guessing that means it is no longer smushing right?

It won’t keep working if you close the window — that ends the connection to your server.

You should be able to re-run the bulk smush whenever you need to — it won’t re-process successful images. A more granular bulk smush option is coming in the next version, too.

Thanks Alex! Great plugin! I think I’ll write a post about it on my blog!

Alex, thanks for the info. I’m curious: how does it know if an image has been smushed? Does does it have a new .jpg header?

Assuming that there are a lot of images (thousands), I was wondering if smush.it bulk always starts checking from the first image, or if it keeps a list of which ones it needs to process and start immediately by the next one that needs smushing.

    Cool plug-in!
