    Hello,

Slimstats is a real nice tool, loving it, been using it since a looong time, it was the old version back then even ??

But with the new versions I have a couple of questions.

    Domain
    myrddin.de; https://myrddin.de/slimstats.jpg

    W3TC
I am usign W3 Total Cache, how well does it work with Slimstats. For a couple of days I had to disable W3TC and noticed that I got a lot more visitors, and that it dropped a lot when I reenabled the plugin.

    Languages, Recent Coutnries, Spy View
I suppose those work only with Javascript enabled?

    Visitors vs Bots
39755 Visitors and 39755 Bots, This can’t be, I am blocking all known bots, too ?? except for a couple of major ones.

    Thanks for reading.

    Hi there,

first of all thank you for being such a loyal user! As for your questions:

    1) Please see this topic for further information; long story short: wt3c and slimstat can’t work together because of their ‘nature’ ??

    2) languages and recent countries are tracked also when javascript is disabled; screen resolution and browser plugins are not

    3) that’s because you have w3tc which is confusing wp slimstat ??

    Cheers,
    Camu

PS: a vote for my plugin would be greatly appreciated

Thanks did that long ago! ??

Isn’t there a way to get these working together? I mean, w3tc could pass information about served pages to slimstats, would be lovely ?? Was s bit surprised when pagevies, ip’s, etc went up that much …

I mean google analytics has its weaknesses, too … hardly a way except the good old log file analysis to get accurate stats these days. I still recall having external tools to do that, back int he 90’s!

    Thanks for the info!

    Michael,

as I said in the other thread, I am thinking about implementing a Javascript-only version of WP SlimStat, which will make it much more similar to Google Analytics. But most search engines and previous generation mobile browsers don’t support Javascript, so you won’t be able to track them at all.

I mean, w3tc could pass information about served pages to slimstats, would be lovely ?? Was s bit surprised when pagevies, ip’s, etc went up that much …

Think about it: the goal of W3TC is to serve static pages, in other words pages that DON’T CHANGE from visitor to visitor, to minimize server load. But if pages don’t change, how can WP SlimStat (server side) distinguish between different sessions and different users, especially when it cannot rely on Javascript? ??

Having W3TC “call” WP SlimStat would be “lovely” but would also defeat the purpose of W3TC itself, which again is to serve static content and avoid PHP execution as much as possible.

Yeah, don’t get me wrong, I love slimstats but also rely on w3tc for performance ??

    Thanks for the info!

Well, in that case you may want to use an external tracking tool…
