PS: We’ve switched from server-side to client-side as a workaround.

    Hello iCatcher,

This is strange, I never heard of such an issue. The server-side uses “Retina-Images”, which is a server-side script, ran for every single images on your website. A few questions:

    – if you disable “Quick Cache plugin”, does it work?
    – how many images do you have on this page? does it crashing starting from the very first image? (even if it is a small one?)
    – are you sure it’s not a limitation of your hosting? (number of scripts ran per second – or I don’t know what else…)
    – what is your hosting service?

    Thanks,
    Jordy,

    Sry for the late response:

    – if you disable “Quick Cache plugin”, does it work?

Yes, I had to disable it, as the problem still occurred with client-side

    – how many images do you have on this page? does it crashing starting from the very first image? (even if it is a small one?)

Depends, as sometimes I have galleries on the homepage with up to three images per post. The image start to disappear when the retina versions are loaded

    – are you sure it’s not a limitation of your hosting? (number of scripts ran per second – or I don’t know what else…)

Checked with the hosting provider (cyon), it’s definitely a caching issue, because without caching it works. I also tried the Cachify plugin with the same result.

Mmm, might be difficult, you should play a bit with the settings of your caching plugin. I am using W3 Total Cache and I have no problem with this one at all.
