I’m trying to set up an attribute called “Status”, with two options of either “Available” or “Unavailable”.

I’ve set Attribute Name as “Status”, slug is “status”, checked Searchable and Sortable, and chose Dropdown Selection for both Search Input and Data Entry.

As the option for Dropdown Selection I entered “Available, Unavailable” (without quotes).

On the front-end, Status shows properly as a dropdown selection in the sidebar Property Search widget, with values Any, Available, Unavailable.

However, if I select “Available” and click Search, the search results shows both Available AND Unavailable listings. How to get it to only show Available ones? I’m guessing I’m missing something simple.

    Thanks!

  • Please, make sure, that selected properties have only Available value of that attribute.

    Hi Denys,

It is impossible for the properties to have more than one value for the attribute, since I have it set to be a drop-down in the search widget and in the admin. So you can only choose Available, or Unavailable, not both.

Here is the test page where you can see it happen: https://tupelofurnituremarket.com/hostess-home1/

If in the right widget, you enter:
    Property Type: Any
    Bedrooms: 2
    Bathrooms: 1
    Miles to Market: Any
    Listing Code: [blank]
    Status: Available

It will show places that are available AND unavailable.

If you instead change the last one to
    Status: Unavailable
It will show only Unavailable ones.

I see that issue. I think the reason is the word “unavailable” consists of word “available”. I believe, you can use some synonym of “available” while we’re looking for that issue fix. Thank you for pointing.

Ah, that makes sense. Can’t believe I didn’t think of that. Thanks!

Please share with us daledude – how did you solve this issue?

czares – I did exactly as Denys said, and instead of using Available and Unavailable, until they can get the filter fixed to understand the difference, I am using Vacant and Unavailable. Most people understand what vacant means, since that’s the term most hotels/motels use. I do hope they get it fixed soon though, because we’d prefer to use Available/Unavailable for simplicity.
