[Plugin: WP-Password] Poorly thought out – might break your site
-
This plugin is yet another of the billions of WordPress plugins that are poorly designed and may waste a lot of your time, so beware.
I just applied this to my WP site to see if I could set up a password on one of the pages – because the current theme I am using has disabled this feature that WP has built-in.
Well, the plugin settings section is so not intuitive, that it leads you to one of two options, which will apply to all your URLs on your WP site. So once you apply that option you are immediately logged out of your site and can’t log back in because it will eventually display a message saying “enter a password”, that is, if you are luck to get that message because this plug in is poorly written.
So I am logged out of my site and even going to my /wp-login.php page would simply redirect me to another page that requires a password. I got around this issue by accessing the plugin folder through my FTP client and removing all the associated files.
Perhaps the author had some good intentions when writing this plugin, but the bottom line is that it shouldn’t even be allowed to be installed – should there be some QA department checking for quality of plugins. I’m so displeased with issues like that that I am taking my time to write this long message so that others don’t have to waste their time with another worthless plug in, and as a result shy away from using WordPress. Cheers!
