First, let me say that this is a brilliant tool… it seems to work but I have one minor problem.

I’m using the Custom Post Widget plugin to enable me to create content blocks that I can then use with WP Page Widget to show on a specific page. I’m doing this because I may have a piece of html that I want to show in a widget area on say 5 posts, and a different one on a different set of posts and so on. This is so I can show links to a specific product on different post pages. So far so good. It works a treat.

The problem is that when I go to edit the customised plugin, it just isn’t visible in the Sidebar area under the Page Widgets meta box on the post edit page… it isn’t an issue with functionality as the changes still seem to work but it does make for extra work in editing and updating.

    Dear Adam Sargant,
Please clarify so you don’t see that on left side so could not drag it in?
Customize starts with blank in the mean time there you can drag things in. Perhaps are you suggesting that it should start with current sidebar setting (what you dragged from Appearance / Widgets)?

    Dear Tien

No… once I had dragged the Custom Post Widget into the sidebar, it worked fine… I saved it and it showed up appropriately on the post itself. When I go *back* in to edit the post the Custom Post Widget is no longer showing in the side bar in your meta box, though it is still working on the post itself.

It actually appears to be a conflict between Custom Post Widget and your plug-in (I tested on another blog) so I would fully understand if you don’t consider it in your remit to resolve, but I think that the combined functionality of your plug in and Custom Post Widget would be very powerful, unless you can think of a different way of accomplishing the same thing (saving html content in blocks to re-use on different pages using your plug in)

    Thanks and best regards

    OK I see the issue.
We will investigate the issue to see what we can do.
    Thanks for reporting and understanding.

For your information, the same problem also occurs with the plugin ‘Smart WYSIWYG Blocks Of Content’ which does almost the same thing as the Custom Post Widget

    ‘Custom Post Widget’

    Thanks for having a look

    All the best
