[Plugin: WP Meetup] How to retain past events on blog page

It appears that once the event is past the posts are deleted.
My mysql is pretty weak. ideally I would like to add a custom function to my theme to modify the plugin code to update to append the new events, or something similar.
I suppose I could modify the plugin directly if necessary.
On my nice to have, but probably too much to ask for list is to have 2 categories, upcoming events and past events. So I could have an archive for each type.
