[Plugin: WP Easy Post Types] Easy Post Types & Permalinks
-
When I check “Use pretty URLs” (under “Edit Fields” in the “Easy Post Types” menu), the links to view the posts stop working.
Otherwise, great plugin. Thanks!

Thanks chertz,
Any thoughts about how to correct the problem at this stage?
Thanks very much!-@JoshuaGuffey
PS. I’ve disabled and deleted the plugin to see if it would correct the issue yet it still persists. ??
Hi Joshua,
Is this the page you are being redirected to: https://clunkerjunker.com/myclunker/95-honda-civic/ ?
We aren’t doing anything with redirection in our plugin. Did you by any chance install any other plugins close to the same time as Easy Post Types that could have impacted the site? Can you double check any .htaccess files you have to make sure that the forward isn’t happening at that level. Can you send me a list of plugins you are using so that we can install them and see if we can duplicate the issue?
Thanks.
That’s correct, that’s the page I’m being directed to.

Everything was working perfectly. The issue occurred in response to something your plugin did. I had created a new post type (slug=”myclunker”) and a new post of that type (slug=”95-honda-civic”). Note that this is the same as the url we are being sent to when visiting the homepage. It was clearly some issue with the Easy Post Types plugin.
I think that just prior to the issue occurring I deleted the post type while the post “95-honda-civic” still existed in that ‘post type’. In other words, I think that it was an error that resulted from data existing in association with a post type that was deleted. If that makes sense.

On a sidenote, I just restored the SQL database to prior to any changes to the site (including the install of your plugin) and the problem was still present. I’ve now re-imported my most recent SQL database since it’s content is the newest. And running hourly SQL dumps just in case. Also, I just tried deactivating all plugins and was still getting sent to that long url.
I also looked into these settings: wp-admin/ms-sites.php?action=editblog&id=1 and found that all references are to the correct https://clunkerjunker.com (no trailing url)
Additionally, I’ve checked that there isn’t a redirect present in either my hosting setup (through cPanel) or through the Redirection plugin that I have enabled. Note that I disabled all plugins and still had the issue.
I also tried reseting my permalink structure to no avail.
Thanks for your help! Anxious to resolve this issue.
Currently downloading an entire backup of the files on this site to then run a reinstall of WordPress 3 via the /wp-admin/update-core.php options page. Hope this doesn’t screw me worse. #backupsaregood
Man… you gotta be kidding me. I reinstalled WordPress as mentioned above and still have this issue!
Thanks for your help. Looking forward to being back to normal again. :-/
Hi Josh – thanks for the details, and sorry that you are frustrated. Hopefully we can help squash this issue. What are your options in /wp-admin/options-reading.php? Any chance your last post is set to be displayed as your default home page? How about the redirect plugin – are there any options in that that somehow are forcing you to this page?
We’re going to install each plugin you’ve outlined above under a multisite configuration and will let you know the outcome.
Thank you for your help. I honestly didn’t expect to receive much help based on the fact that this is a free plugin and also based on the verbiage at this site. It’s a pretty significant issue though so I really appreciate the help.
Is there an email address I can send screenshots to? I believe you’ve got mine if you’d rather not publicize it. Feel free to shoot me an email and I’ll send whatever info you want.
If this gets resolved and the plugin works as intended I’m going shout all over the net about the great support and the plugin. I appreciate nothing more than good support. Thank you!

Josh, thanks for your call earlier and I am sorry that we don’t have a way to resolve the problems you are running into. We haven’t been able to recreate the problem that you are encountering and therefore don’t have any insight into how to implement a fix. We will be releasing a new version tomorrow that addresses a number of reported bugs that we have been able to recreate and resolve. If you are interested in using the updated version of the plugin, I recommend creating a copy of your site and installing it on this copy as a test to ensure that it works properly with your specific configuration. Best of luck!
Thank you.
Hi All – just to let you know, we’ve released an updated plugin with a number of updates included in it. Version 1.0.1 is now available as a download. Thanks.
I installed the new version, but I’m afraid I am still seeing the 404 problem. I deleted all my post types and started over, but it’s still not fixed :/
Same problem with the 404 error. What about compatibility with qTranslate?
Do you have any Pages with the same slug as the post type key? There appears to be a WordPress bug with this. From the Easy Post Type FAQs:
I get a 404 page when trying to view a post of my custom post type
This can be caused by having a page with the same slug as your custom post type key. The Page does not need to be published (it can even be in the trash) for this issue to exists.
You will either need to permanently delete the Page or create the a new post type with a different key.
This is an issue with WordPress rewrite. We are looking into how to workaround the issue.
