I’m trying to simply get WPEC up and running, and having alot of problems.

Installed with no problems yesterday, and began by setting the “settings”. Checked to be sure everything was okay before going any further, everything seemed fine. Added the first product, went to check my site again, and it made all the pages on the Menu only go to the “Products” page (so if I clicked on About/Contact/whatever, it would try to redirect to the products page. I thought it might be connected to the Products page and other pages WPEC force creates, so I removed them. I quickly realized WPEC cannot work without these, so I deactivated and uninstalled, thinking I’d just start from scratch.

    The problem is this:
It seems like it is refusing to “reset”. It’s keeping all the settings I originally had, including the deletion of those critical pages.

I’d really like to use WPEC, but I can’t seem to make it work.

Does anyone know how I might do this? Thanks in advance!

    Candace

    Hi Candace,

If you’re able to start from scratch (brand new WordPress install), that would likely be best. It has been an intentional design decision to leave data (options, products, etc.) in the database in case someone deactivates or removes the plugin in a debugging effort but desires to keep their data.

The initial problem you mentioned (all pages going to the products page) likely was just an issue with permalinks. Visiting the permalinks page would have likely fixed it.

And currently, WPeC does depend on the pages it creates. This will be handled a bit more gracefully in the 4.0 release, but that is still several months off.

Aside from those issues – I’m not understanding any further issues – let me know if those tips help you!

The issues I’ve been having is a complete hot mess! I have it working on one of my sites but not the other. This is just crazy and the charges are too much just for it not to be user friendly. #sigh

What charges? It’s a free plugin.

    Tekgyrl –

Well, I was using the free version, but honestly it just became more hassle than it was worth so I ended up not using it. I’ve spoken with several people in the last couple of days, and they seem to all seem to have one problem or another with it.

Either way, I’ve decided to not use it and go another route. Good luck! Hopefully the issues will resolve soon.

For the download importer it was $40. My clients are selling their music online. ?? If it wasn’t for that portion, it would work just fine. I’m about to take an hour and play with it again.

OMG thank you soooo much Justin! I found another plugin but from the way your links look, this one “looks” so much more user friendly. I have two other music artists wanting to have the same type of website setup. I will try it on those. Good looking out!

I installed Responsive for Buddypress – but I had also installed the plugin WPEC. I tried deactivating it; but it won’t go away and I can’t seem to edit Responsive the way I should. Any ideas?
