WP e-Commerce Version 3.8.8.5
Store Settins -> Payments: Paypal standard, Sandbox mode.

IPN is turned on in Paypal Sandbox account.

I buy a digital product, pay with Paypal, get properly redirected to the “Transaction Results”, but the download link is missing because the order status is still “Order Received.” So I manually change the order status to “Payment Accepted”, then log in as the “paying test customer”, go to ‘My Account’ -> ‘Downloads’ and the Download link appears there, as it should. BUT, clicking on the download link gives this message:
“Sorry something has gone wrong with your download!”

Performed this test at least 20 times. It’s just not working.

However, when I navigate directly to the url of the downloadable file, it lets me download it. I was able to download all of my digital products without even being logged in. So anyone can access your digital files by having the direct path. Is this standard functionality for WP e-Commerce? Or is this connected to the overall problem of broken/failing download links? Any help or thoughts are greatly appreciated.

I found out my server blocked the IPNs PayPal uses.

Download/install Bad Behavior plugin and use the Whitelist functionality to allow your server to receive the IPN’s.

Here’s the IP list that PayPal has posted that I’ve whitelisted – it seems to do the trick. Good luck.
