• I’m using a fresh install of both WP 2.7 and the newest plugin version 3.6.9 and noticed that the “weight rate” shipping module doesn’t work properly. I created a weight rate table, then set up a product with a specific weight and added a variation set with different weights. When calculating the shipping cost, however, the weight values of the product’s variation set are never used. Instead it’s always the product’s specific weight.

Another problem: Based on the product’s specific weight the shipping cost is calculated correctly in the shopping cart. On the order confirmation page (after placing the order), however, the shipping price is always incorrect. In fact, there are two different shipping costs displayed…one with the list of the ordered items (produced by %product_list% in the admin settings) and a different price below (produced by %total_shipping% in the admin settings).

Anyone else noticed these problems? Are they fixed in the plugin’s Gold Cart version?

  • Yes. I have issues with the weight rate method calculating properly on checkout, but not showing up right on customer emails and the “packing slip”. This part of the e-commerce plug-in is broken (along with many other parts) but don’t expect much help from the originators. This a good example of a not-ready-for-prime-time plugin whose originators have very poor quality assurance values. You can try to get help on the forum of the plugin originators, but don’t hold your breath.
