[Plugin: WP Client File Share] Share files with between users not just Admin?

    Hey Aaron – I’ve been testing your WP Client File Share plugin, which is quite cool. I have a question. Is it possible to allow the different sharers to allow selected other sharers to see their files, meaning besides the admin? I’m looking to allow a group of users to share certain files among themselves rather than just with the Admin user. Let me know if I missed something. They are currently using just one user account but can’t tell who uploaded/owns what files. So it’s not quite there for their purpose.

    Are there feeds of each user’s files that the Admin could display as links on a page or sidebar? That would be a perfect solution.

    None of these features are available yet. There is a good chance that we will be releasing a version 2.0 soon and these are good suggestions.

    My only fear is that “my people are destroyed from lack of knowledge”. Meaning, this was originally developed with security being a big part of it. So, no users can actually see other peoples files. If we open the gate, people might allow too much access.

    Also, we are using the built-in permissions per page. So, really, “user1” owns the page, and no one else can. We would have to take a totally different approach to security, which would make us use a custom ACL (access control list) system, which would put some of this risk on our end.

    The feeds concept might be the best approach though. It still keeps the “page permissions” and only an admin could “turn on” the widget to display files.

    We’ll see what we can do. We will be having a different approach with 2.0 using custom post types which will give us some more flexibility.

    Yeah. The feed idea seems to have potential.
