• I have two related questions that I’m pretty sure are idiotic, but I am beating my head against a wall and can’t figure them out. Might be a case of not being able to see the forest for the trees.

I installed the plug-in and it seems to be working best I can tell via my admin control panel. However, I can’t see the classifieds on the live site (as an end user). The control panel tells me the page’s URL is (my site domain plus) /index.php?pagename=classified

But when I open that page, I see a blank page of my site with no classifieds stuff either visible, or in the source code.

Second question – how do you change this url? I’d rather it were (my site domain plus) /classifieds

I’ve noticed that others are able to do this, but I don’t see a setting that will let me change the url.

Sorry to be dense, but I’d appreciate any suggestions. Thanks

  • Not a dumb question. Seems something has gone awry with wp-classifieds with the latest version of wordpress.

    Do this as a workaround:

Create a new page, with the title “WP_CLASSIFIED” (without the quotes).

In the content of this page, write “WP_CLASSIFIED“.

That should get you up and running. You’ll also need to modify the “pagename” for this entry to be “classified” – best way to do it is through SQL.

I tried what @natalieorphan said, but although i have the same situation as above – in my case still doesn’t work. Did i miss something?

After 5 loooong hours, I finally found the bug!! thanks natalieorphan for your comment because it gave me some ideas, but it doesn’t work because you have to create the new page, and in the title and the content write:

((WP_CLASSIFIED)) -> Instead of (( )) use the [ [ and ] ] twice without spaces because the forum doesn’t allow me to write it in that way for the spam stuff..
    So it has to look like this (without spaces) [ [ W P _ C L A S S I F I E D ] ]

Then in that page that you create, it will be your WPClassified =) if you want to modify the title it would be through SQL like natalie said.

Hope it works for you guys!!
(sorry by my broken english =P )

Sorry the title if you wanna change it, is in the wpClassified options ! =P

Thanks guys! I had this problem too and by adding WP_CLASSIFIED to it, I can now view it on my page.
    I do have a few questions though……
How do you place ads? Is it just the “list” that is the ads?
If so, when I make a list under a category, it makes a link to the ‘list name’ but that link takes them to my homepage and there is no where to modify where that link goes. If we have someone place an ad, it should be linked to their website, correct?
Can anyone assist me with this?
Also, it seems to me that only admin can post the ads? Is this correct?
    Thanks in advance!
    Lori
