• Hi, I am using wp-activity monitoring for a while. And I can see people trying to log in from different IP constantly. Almost every other day. Most of the time using username admin. Sometimes some other usernames that also exists in my site. It’s a ecommerce site with wp-ecommerce. I am also using Limit Login Attempts plugin to ban IPs and they still coming back I got a list of IPs for 20-30 IPS that were ban. Is it normal for WP sites? Or is there any way to block these hackers?
    Thanks

I’ve ever had such hacking attempts too, but not as severe as yours. My website is relatively new, only 200-300 visitors a month, it ever had several times of hacking attempts. I blocked their IP for a weeks, then unblock it, after then they don’t come back. If your website is prone to attacks, I suggest you to use Better WP Security plugin.

Hi, i am confused of plugins which one is the best. who is on which side. is it OK to make the admin user role as “No role for this user” in user section. will they be able to change its role setting if they are able to log in with admin user name.

Most hackers will try to hack user named “admin” and will try it on WordPress login page “websitename.com/wp-login.php“. So it is good to change both of them to something harder to guess, like username: “shamrat dewan” and url: “websitename.com/secretlogin”. Better WP Security perhaps is not the best, but at least it allows me to do both the things, and block ip.
