    UPDATE

Ok I fixed the issue: Here’s what you have to do

    1. add .xsl to your list of excludes from your CDN, this will generate the missing the sitemap

    2. YOAST changed the url of the sitemap from news_sitemap.xml to newssitemap.xml so you have to delete the old sitemap and add a new one.

Just so you know, and knowing is half the battle.

Happy to find a fix for the blank sitemap!

@gamingexamier, can you tell me what CDN means in this context? Googling on that gets me Content Distribution Network and other things that don’t quite seem germaine.

Sorry if that’s a newbie question.

@dan CDN stands for Cross Delivery Network, it’s when you use a third party to host images or items for your site, then visitors pull the image from that server and the information for the page from yours at the same time.

It helps things run a lot faster. The two best are (IMO) Amazon Cloudfront and MAX CDN.

    Hope that helps ??

If you see empty site map,
add new articles after enabling plugin. Also check at article checkbox for google sitemap is checked or not.

I have definately published news since activating the plugin, and yet it’s empty. I don’t use a CDN.

I had existing published news, which didn’t show up in the sitemap. Then I published news about a month ago, and it showed up in the sitemap. Now my sitemap is empty again.

I don’t understand what is going on. I would like all my old news in the sitemap, anyway. I already submitted my site to Google news and never received a reply, and they never picked it up. I’m worried now that it’s because the plugin isn’t working properly. Help would be appreciated. Thanks.

OK, maybe I don’t understand how this plugin works. I published news 6 days ago, after my last post. It showed up instantly in the sitemap.

Now I just went back to publish a new post, and the xml sitemap is blank again. Does the plugin purge news from the XML after a period of time? What’s going on??

@publicradio yes it does, it will only show the latest news in a 48 hour window if i’m correct. The Google News forums will give you the exact time, the sitemap removes the old ones, since Google states that your sitemap should only contain news that was published in 48 hours
