I have some posts that belongs to more than one category. Let’s say: category 1 and category 2
On: Yoast Seo Plugin > Titles & Meta > Post Types :

I set Post Title Templete to:
    %%title%% – %%category%% | %%sitename%%
Since those posts belong to both category 1 and category 2, google is showing my post on its results as:

    Title Post – Category 1, Category 2 |Site Name.
( Actually its showing: Title Post – Category 1, Category 2 | Site N…) due the characters limit.

My question is if there is any way to keep that article on both categories (since I find it useful for the user) but, somehow, limit to one category to be shown on the title?

I gave an example with just 2 categories, but if, for instance, that post is on 3, 4, etc categories it gets worst…

Is the only solution to remove the %%category%% variable? I would like to keep 1 category name on each post title…

I’m talking about many posts, so it would be really hard to change one by one.

    Thank you for you help.

As a matter of fact, it’s a really bad idea to assign your posts to several categories because it adds up to the duplicate content that you have throughout your site. It may make sense for the user, but not for Google. In case you absolutely have to use a few categories, here’s what you can do as a workaround.

In order to fix the duplicate content issue, you need to go to SEO -> Titles and Metas -> Taxonomies and tick the “noindex, follow” option across Categories. It’ll allow you to remove your category pages from Google’s index, but still pass along Google juice through them.

Alternatively, just assign one post per single category ??
